The Future of the Early Childhood Workforce is a policy forum that will explore the history, present state, and future of the early childhood workforce by examining scholarly research and discussing current state and local policies that determine the professional qualifications and compensation of early childhood teachers.
The forum’s keynote speaker, Dr. Marcy Whitebook, is a highly regarded expert who has led several large-scale early childhood research projects, including the landmark National Child Care Staffing Study, which first brought public attention to the low wages and high turnover of early childhood teachers. She is the founder and director of the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment at the University of California-Berkley.
